This piano is the last piece needed to truly complete a space of this caliber. The expenses incurred by the design and construction did not leave the funds necessary to purchase a new piano. The current piano is over fifty years old and does not match the standard of professionalism that the new space communicates to its audience. Students in our various performing arts classes and activities deserve an instrument of sufficient size and quality that will elevate student achievement while remaining in this exceptional space from now and well into the future.
Our goal is to replace our current Steinway B stage piano with a new 9-foot concert grand that is appropriate for such a prestigious space. The piano will benefit all students and organizations that will utilize the Performing Arts Center. The performing ensembles directors at the high school will regularly use this instrument with their students, currently numbering over 400. In addition to the students who will use this during performances, community organizations such as the all-professional Greenwich Symphony Orchestra that rent the space will have the ability to make use of it.
